Office Policies:

Your First Visit
Just call our friendly staff and they will assist you in making an appointment at a time and location that is convenient for you. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. For baseball or softball players who need to see Dr. Metzger for pain in the throwing arm, we have appointments available at 3:30-4:30pm on fridays. (See Safethrow website.) In case of an emergency, we will work you in on the same day. On your first visit, plan to arrive a few minutes early to complete necessary patient data that will allow us to pay close attention to detail. Upon checking out, please make a follow-up appointment at the front desk. If you must cancel an appointment, please notify the office immediately so other patients may be provided the same prompt service and attention.

Questions?
Some questions can be answered by the office staff, while others will require the direct attention of the doctor. These calls will be made as soon as possible, no later than the evening of your call. If you have an emergency after hours, the office provides an answering service and emergency care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, holidays included. If necessary, you may go directly to the emergency room, where they will notify the doctor or the orthopedic surgeon on call who will provide the necessary emergency care.

Fees
Your first office visit usually requires more time, and a more extensive evaluation. Therefore, your first fee may be greater than a less time consuming follow-up. Payments for office visits as well as radiologic and laboratory testing is expected at the time service is rendered. You may pay by cash, check, VISA, MaterCard, or American Express. As a courtesy to you, the patient, this office will also file your insurance should you so desire. Medicare, Worker's Compensation and most all insurance companies are accepted.

Prescriptions
This office does not refill prescription medication after hours or on weekends. You may request a prescription refill through our website patient portal which is the best, fastest way to get a refill. Another way is to telephone your personal pharmacist and to have them call our office for the refill. This procedure reduces the errors in refill information and saves time for you, the staff and the pharmacist. Refills on narcotics will be on a limited basis to help avoid substance abuse, and to provide the best and safest medical care available for pain control.

Miscellaneous
We are committed to providing the best environment possible for our patients. Therefore, for the health and comfort of our patients and staff, smoking is not permitted. We also ask that you do not bring food or drinks into the office.
